Camp Foolery!

Camp Leads:
“Circus” Rob Crites, Woody “Woodhead” Keppel, & Dana Block

Sometimes all you need for a good laugh is the right combination of people. Through the alchemy of their partnership, “Circus Rob, Woody, and Dana create a comic combustion of spontaneity and inventiveness reminiscent of uninhibited kids at play.” Let’s put on a show!

Rob Crites is a circus performer with a playful masculinity along with well crafted, through-the-roof skills, and has performed with Cirque du Soleil, toured with Paul McCartney (Euro/Russia), stilt-danced with Jennifer Lopez (American Music Awards), and appeared on Celebrity Circus & Dancing With the Stars. Rob teaches a wide range of circus skills at Circus Smirkus.

Woody Keppel has been a frequent player on the European varieté circuit as well as multiple international tours of theaters, festivals, and TV shows, including the CCTV Comedy Festival in Beijing and Europe’s prestigious hit-TV show, Le Plus Grande Cabaret du Monde in Paris. He’s stared in four family videos, and played principle and supportive roles in numerous feature films. Woody is the founding artistic director of The Festival of Fools.

Dana Block has taught Shakespeare and theater arts to all age groups, as well as adult acting classes in Boston, Chicago, NY and Vermont. She has performed multiple original one-woman shows regionally and off-Broadway. Dana studied acting with Michael Howard in NYC and also at The Conservatory @ SUNY Purchase. She holds an M.F.A in Classical Acting from George Washington University and The Shakespeare Theater Company with Michael Kahn.

Veterans of circus, stage, and film, we welcome campers, dreamers, and future entertainers to Camp Foolery, where campers of all skill levels and aspirations develop skills in clowning, juggling, character acting (with a sprinkling of Shakespeare), improvisation, music, and storytelling (with a strong emphasis on fun! ). Three playful performers and devoted teachers who believe that laughter is the shortest distance between two people. Finding the humor and love in nearly any situation is the name of the game!
